Hispanic Kitchen

The social network that celebrates Latin food

I am so happy for this website. I hope to gain good home cooking recipes. I have notice that the grandmas and the moms that really know how to cook are slowly slipping away. We, the new generation, have not learned to cook that way and it is really sad. My grandmother passed a couple of years ago. My aunt a couple of months ago. ANd we never learned to cook and it is really sad. I think before these recipes are none exhistence, we need to learn these recipes for us, for our children and grandchildren.

By the way, I have not seen any good cook books. any suggestions? any recipes?

You are so right, Yesenia. I think about this often. I need to document my grandmother's recipes before it's too late. Oh, that carne asada! I'm Cuban and the gold standard as far as cookbooks go is Cocina Criolla by Nitza Villapol. I also have a beautiful book called Eating Cuban by Beverly Cox and Martin Jacobs but -- I have to be honest -- I've never made anything from it.
