The social network that celebrates Latin food
Last night we had quite a meal to remember. For her birthday party, Lisa, my youngest brother's girlfriend, invited us to a local Peruvian restaurant, Aromas del Perú. Lisa had recently been to Peru and came back inspired with a love of their cuisine.
I had had some enjoyable experiences with Peruvian food in Miami, where we live, but my wife took a little more convincing. Our previous restaurant choices had missed the mark in her opinion. She saw the light after last night's delicious feast.
Lisa took the initiative and ordered for everyone (she generously picked up the tab too! - Lisa you're way too kind). She ordered a lineup of traditional dishes that frankly, I couldn't get enough of. It was hard to choose a favorite.
Following there are some photos of what we enjoyed, courtesy of my wife, the family photographer.
I dug into the ceviche and papas a la huancaína so fast that the photos were an afterthought. Apologies for that! Now I have an excuse to go back to Aromas del Perú and get some more photos!
In the meantime, enjoy this visual feast of Jalea Mixta, Seco de Res, Tacu Tacu, Arroz con Mariscos, Lomo Saltado and Aji de Gallina.
Jalea Mixta (Fried Seafood Platter with shrimp, squid, mussles, fish and yuca sticks)
Seco de Res (Beef Stew with Rice and Beans)
Tacu Tacu (Steak with Bean Cake)
Arroz con Mariscos (akin to a paella)
Lomo Saltado (Beef strips with onions, fries and rice)
Ají de Gallina (Chicken in Spicy Sauce)
