Comment by Katie Metz de Martínez on April 18, 2012 at 8:55am Yes, exactly! They have a similar flavor, but they're not as potent. They're very easy to work with. You just have to make sure to clean them really well because they get a lot of dirt/sand stuck in between the leaves as they grow. I usually chop them first, put them in a deep bowl filled with water and then swish them about really well. Wait a few minutes for the dirt to settle to the bottom of the bowl, and then scoop out the leeks with a slotted spoon.
